New GMail Feature – Canned Responses
October 22, 2008If you often find yourself sending the same e-mail and you use GMail, then the new Canned Responses feature could save you a bit of time.
Described as “e-mail for the truly lazy”, Canned Responses allows you to set-up standard e-mail templates and then send them with a couple of clicks.
The feature can be turned on in the experimental Mail Labs section of the settings. If you are already using one or more of GMail’s experimental features you can click on the little green flask icon at the top of the screen to get to the same place.
Once enabled you will notice a new ‘Canned Responses’ link under the subject line. Click on the link to select a template, create a new one or save the current e-mail as a new response.
To save youself even more time you can use GMail’s filters to send canned responses automatically too.
